Bible study
Pastor's Bible Study is offered to adults from September to June. The study normally occurs after coffee fellowship each Sunday. We have studied the Letters of John and Jude, Invitations to the Old and New Testaments, A Study of Ephesians, Discovering the Psalms, Invitation to John, Genesis and Exodus.
We have just completed a study of the Letter of James by reading and discussing Sure I believe - so What! by James Montgomery Boice. Currently we are studying Discover I & II Peter. John Roose is leading our lively studies.
Lamplighters Women's Bible Study has met during the fall and winter in Darley Hall and studied Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and the Gospel of John.
We look forward to resuming Lamplighter studies in the fall of 2010.
Book Study
Members of the Lake City community have enjoyed a rewarding book study on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 from September to June.
We have read and discussed Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis; Discipleship by Dietrich Bonhoeffer; The Language of God by Francis Collins; Life of the Beloved by Henri Nouwen; Why Were You Searching For Me? by the Rev. Dr. Ed Nettleton; The Problem of Pain by C. S. Lewis; The Shack by Wm Paul Young; Celebration of Discipline by Richard J. Foster; Reaching for the Invisible God by Philip Yancey; Forgive and Forget by Lewis B. Smedes, Lord, Save Us from Your Followers by Dan Merchant, and Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller.
We are now reading The Reason for God by Timothy Keller. New participants are always welcome and are encouraged to join us.
Grill and Bible Study
On Wednesday evenings from June to September, we enjoy Grill and Bible Study which is held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. It is a time of food and fellowship, followed by Bible study. In previous summers we studied A Study of Matthew; A Study of Revelation; the Book of Isaiah. and I and II Corinthians. We plan to begin this fun event on June 20, 2010, please plan to join us!
Music Groups
CPC sponsors Lake City Community Choir which presents several public concerts each year and often sings in our church. We also enjoy several singing groups as well as instrumentalists who participate in our services.
Spiritual Renewal Weekends
Koinonia, Cursillo, and Walk to Emmaus are renewal weekends that will ignite your walk of discipleship. Participation is highly recommended.
