Stewardship Campaign

Community Church holds a stewardship campaign for four weeks that begins in July and ends with Stewardship Sunday the first week of August.  We are all stewards of our time, our talents, and our financial blessings.  Our Church needs all three from each of us.  Please consider how you can help CPC and and pledge in joyful thanksgiving for all of God’s blessings!

2011 Campaign - "Growing a Generous Heart"
Tony and Betty Touchon have again agreed to plan the 2011 Campaign with assistance from Ron and Sandra Yates.  They have gathered many volunteers to give testimonials and write articles for the church bulletins and Evangel during the campaign.  We thank them for the countless hours they have already spent.

The Stewardship Campaign will begin on July 11 and end on August 1, Pledge Sunday.  During the campaign several church members will give testimonials on what our church means to them including Ron Yates, Ron Bruce, Jerry Sharp, and Tony Touchon.  Other church members will write inspirational inserts for the weekly church bulletin and June Evangel including Dale and Lynn Bishop, Dorothy Schmidt, John Bonner, Berry and Jane Breining, and Mary Farrar.  The financial pledge goal for 2011 is $100,000.

Community Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund

The generosity and faith of numerous individuals and families have created the CPC Endowment Fund.  The Endowment Fund Committee consists of Jay Farrar, Paul Hudgeons, Dorothy Schmidt, Ed Smith, Helen Thompson, and Ron Yates.  The committee reports to the session of CPC.  Interest from the endowment fund supports the operational budget of the church each year.  Members, affiliate members, and friends are encouraged to remember this opportunity for giving as God blesses them, and as part of their bequest planning.  The members of the Endowment Fund Committee will be glad to provide more information.

One Great Hour of Sharing

OGHS supports three separate ministries of the PC(USA), the Presbyterian Hunger Program, Self-Development of People, and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.  Once a year, our church collects a special offering for these ministries.  Donations are also appreciated throughout the year.

Christmas Joy Offering

The Christmas Joy Offering has been a Presbyterian tradition for almost seventy years.  It is one of the four special offerings designated by the General Assembly of the PC(USA) to provide congregations a way to support specific causes that help those in need.  Fifty percent of the receipts are given to the Board of Pension to provide support to retired and active church workers and their and families.  The other fifty percent supports Presbyterian related racial ethnic education.  We are encouraged to support the Christmas Joy Offering through gifts to our congregation's offering.

Alfred E. Ruth, Jr. Memorial Fund

Al Ruth served as Executive Presbyter for the Presbytery of Western Colorado for over eleven years until his retirement in 1999. One of Al's passions was to spread the Good News by promoting church growth, congregational health and pastoral competence. The Alfred E. Ruth, Jr., Memorial Award for Evangelism and Church Development recognizes ministries that exemplify the passions and priorities of Al's ministry.  Each year ministries related to the Presbytery of Western Colorado are nominated to receive the award.  Donations in Al Ruth's memory may be made at any time. Five percent of the fund will be awarded annually to the ministry that best exemplifies the Gospel.  CPC has designated October 1 as a day of special offering for our congregation.
