2009 Stewardship Campaign

Community Church holds a one-month stewardship campaign at the end of July and through most of August. Ron and Sandra Yates have generously volunteered to plan and coordinate the campaign this summer. In the past small groups have met in the homes of some of our members during the campaign. Pastor John attended each one, and attendees discussed visions and plans for the future of Community Presbyterian Church. We are all stewards of our time, our talents, and our financial blessings. Community Church needs all three from each of our saints. Please plan to attend one of these meetings and pledge in thanksgiving for all of God’s blessings!

Community Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund

The generosity and faith of numerous individuals and families have created the CPC Endowment Fund.  The Endowment Fund Committee consists of Ed Smith, Tom Robb, Ron Bruce, Pat Ezell, Jay Farrar, and Helen Thompson.  The committee reports to the session of CPC.  Interest from the endowment fund supports the operational budget of the church each year.  Members, affiliate members, and friends are encouraged to remember this opportunity for giving as God blesses them, and as part of their bequest planning.  Pastor John can place you in contact with a member of the Endowment Fund Committee for more information.

One Great Hour of Sharing

OGHS supports three separate ministries of the PC(USA), the Presbyterian Hunger Program, Self-Development of People, and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.  Once a year, our church collects a special offering for these ministries.  Donations are also appreciated throughout the year.

Christmas Joy Offering

The Christmas Joy Offering has been a Presbyterian tradition for almost seventy years.  It is one of the four special offerings designated by the General Assembly of the PC(USA) to provide congregations a way to support specific causes that help those in need.  Fifty percent of the receipts are given to the Board of Pension to provide support to retired and active church workers and their and families.  The other fifty percent supports Presbyterian related racial ethnic education.  We are encouraged to support the Christmas Joy Offering through gifts to our congregation's offering.

Alfred E. Ruth, Jr. Memorial Fund

Al Ruth served as Executive Presbyter for the Presbytery of Western Colorado for over eleven years until his retirement in 1999. One of Al's passions was to spread the Good News by promoting church growth, congregational health and pastoral competence. The Alfred E. Ruth, Jr., Memorial Award for Evangelism and Church Development recognizes ministries that exemplify the passions and priorities of Al's ministry.  Each year ministries related to the Presbytery of Western Colorado are nominated to receive the award.  Donations in Al Ruth's memory may be made at any time. Five percent of the fund will be awarded annually to the ministry that best exemplifies the Gospel.  CPC has designated October 1 as a day of special offering for our congregation.
